Mother Nature has brought the first winter storm to the Juniata River Valley. Snow totals between twelve and eighteen inches have blanketed the area as crews and residents begin the big dig.
The Mifflin County Courthouse and County Offices are closed today due to the weather.
The Mifflin County Commissioners’ public meeting scheduled for today (December 17th) has been postponed until Tuesday, December 22nd at 9:00 am.
The Juniata County Courthouse and related offices will be operating on a three (3) hour delay today (December 17th). Members of the public should monitor the County’s website and official Facebook page for potential changes to the schedule and additional information as it becomes available.
Board officers for SEDA-COG were elected at the December 2nd public meeting. Juniata County Commissioner Mark Partner was elected president with Mifflin County Commissioner Kevin Kodish, first vice president. Centre County Commissioner Mark Higgins will serve as second vice president, Larry Reisinger of Perry County, secretary, and Dennis Van Benthuysen of Snyder County, treasurer.
Mifflin County Regional Police completed two-hundred-eighty-nine (289) incident reports for the month of November. Regional officers investigated twenty-one (21) incidents of burglary and theft, four (4) assaults, and twenty-two (22) motor vehicle accidents. Regional Police issued sixty-eight (68) traffic citations last month and five (5) non-traffic citations. Officers made two (2) arrests for DUI.
