Today is Election Day. Across the country, Americans will cast ballots for President of the United States. In Pennsylvania, voters will choose Representatives to the U.S. House. In the Commonwealth, the offices of Attorney General, Auditor General, and Treasurer are on the ballot, along with State Senate and House seats.
A second positive COVID-19 case at Indian Valley Center has closed the school for the remainder of the week. Mifflin County Online K-3 (MCO) will also be closed for in-person instruction at the Indian Valley Elementary site. IVEC and MCO (Mifflin County Online K-3) will reopen for in-person instruction on Monday, November 9th. The Mifflin County School District has created a COVID-19 Dashboard with up-to-date information regarding COVID-19 cases within the District. The Dashboard is on the MCSD Home Page or it can be accessed directly at https://www.mcsdk12.org/covid-19-daily-school-report-card/. The administration will update the COVID Dashboard daily.
The American Red Cross bloodmobile will visit Perry County today. The Red Cross will hold a blood drive at American Legion Post #364 on Union Street in Liverpool from 1:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
A bill authored by Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) has been signed into law by Governor Tom Wolf. House Bill 1984 stands up for rape victims and their families. The new law removes the requirement of a surrogate parent lined up in order to terminate the rights of a perpetrator of rape or sexual assault that resulted in the birth of a child. The bill was supported by the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape.
